Hi all,

I am using BOINC Manager 7.6.31 on Ubuntu 16.04 xenial (x64).

I may have messed up something but when I connect to BAM! using my account then in the log I see this

In other words the BOINC Manager is reporting to be attached to BAM! with a weak authenticator and then it is having trouble contacting projects for task. I can manually add projects but this defeats the idea of using the account manager.

I tried uninstalling (purging) and re-installing, but I keep seeing this behavior.

Any ides about this?

Make a copy of the file, remove the personally important lines, post the rest. That is what I do. But there might be a bit of a bug in posting XML right now, unless Willy fixed it without telling anyone...

As far as I can tell from the code your system should not have logged in with weak auth on the first connect. It was however listed as a weak auth host (changed that).

I also have enabled debug logging for this host, it is however no longer communicating with BAM!.

Hi Willy, I don't know. I kept having that problem. I think I have messed up something upon installation.
Since the machine was on a cloud provider I decided to delete it and start over again. I will use this thread if i get the same problem again.

So, I reinstalled everything and I was able to reconstruct what (probably) happened last time.
I have installed BOIC on a "headless" (no GUI) Ubuntu 14.04 server. To manage it I was using boinctui.

I tried to connect to BAM using boinctui but I kept getting an error about "username and password wrong". I think this is a bug in boinctui. So I have probably tried using the weak authenticator and then (again, probably the same bug in boinctui) boinctui was not reporting any authentication error but it was keeping using the weak authenticator.

So then I used the BOINC Manager on my local machine (via a ssh tunnel) and I was able to attach to BAM! Now, eveything seems to be working correctly.
