If you globally detach a project, it dumps ALL your connections across ALL hosts. Being a part of a group doesn't seem to make a difference as BAM simply dumps all the group connections too.

Isn't that how it's supposed to function? To me, "global detach" means to detach from everything.

You misunderstand. It's detaching ALL the projects not just the project you are globally attaching or detaching from.
