Too boring crunching for only one project, though

If folding@home worked on boinc, I'd use it.

I crunched folding under BOINC some time ago in the beta test, imho it looked promising. BUt the admin for boinc left the project, the ps3 and GPU looked far more promising, so they stopped for now. I hope they reactivate it the sooner, the better.

How about a wrapper of the f@h like yoyo@home? I think that is a nice idea.

that's something that was discussed @yoyo, (in german only 'til now) but you have to have the permission of the project to do it, and yoyo is not a "universal wrapper test project", they want to have a own application some time in the future.

discussion of boinc in the folding forum can be realy tough, as some crunchers there seem to be not quite fond of boinc to say it friendly

@rholliday. You're not the only one with seti download probs. It says 'maintenance' so it should fix itself soon.

The Folding forum moderators are 100% anti BOINC. They will close any threads about it immediately.

I crunch 5% Rosetta and 95% Seti so if I run out of cache, I can always fall back on Rosetta.

@zombie67 and others: Why do you think f@h is so anti-boinc? Jealousy perhaps? Many would like to know the basis of this ridiculous animosity to boinc!

@Gerry: if you'd invested your life in building a distributed system, you would not be happy about some upstart mentioning an alternative that could cause all your crunchers to disappear overnight! It may be inevitable anyway, as boinc becomes std.

Seti & FAH are of approx. same "age". both first had a standalone client. seti decided to go multi project, imho mainly because of lack of money. fah has sufficient funding and a well established client, why change?

fah also has some huge demand for speed, the multicore client crunches 1 wu parallel on all cores to improve speed per wu, going back to 1 wu per core will not be helpful, even if the crunchers run folding only.

Boinc will probably be allowing multicore WUs eventually (V6?), see the boinc_dev mailing list
