@staf: Happily crunching!! BOINC needs every cruncher, not just the latest and greatest. Slower computers are the backbone of all of BOINC!

disagree, in this day and age, considering CPD generated per power consumed, some of the older crunchers are better off retired.

Depends how old we're talking. I've got one machine that's hovering around 100 cpd, that's about where I'd draw the line.

Yeah, less than 100cpd is highly unecological! I wonder how many old machines crunch for CPDN or SAP :?

Hmmm, I have a PIII 1GHz with 100cpd. . . Its 1/ 8th of my total cpd. . .

In my opinion, it is OK to have a slow machine crunch when the computer would have been on for other uses, because the power consumption is about the same, but should not be a 24/ 7 machine.

BURP has been sold to Microsoft, see in the Forum under projects. Crunching will require $$ in the future

I guess I am practical about it. True, I wish every host was 1 gig or better like my old host, but I am happy to get every drop we in the bucket we can; those older hosts add up to serious terraflops, 100 megaflops at a time!

Three years from now, we will not be having this discussion: multi-core CPUs will dramatically increase crunching power for crunchers. Rumor is 16 or more cores in three years. Wow!!

How do we know when the last incremental update was done? Can a time stamp be placed?

My Mac Pro Dual-Core with 4 Cores can crunch 4 different projects at the same time. While my slow PC XP takes 1 at a time.

@Son Goku: Thanks, so I take it that will be the last stats for the day? Is their one that will show the next update?

@Sapper21A: Not exactly. Read the F. A. Q. for more info. And no there is no timestamp that is showing when the next update will be.

Lets see I crunch Burp for free and I have to pay for a render sounds like the death stroke for the project with volunteers unless they want to pay us ~

At the moment you actually don't have to 'pay' for anything. But you earn spendable cobblestones beside your normal credit and that's what you will be able to spend.
