@JCMarsh [U.S. Army] How far do you push your FX-8120? Over 1.4V they pump some serious heat!

Hmm... a propeller powered by a Stirling engine? Sounds reasonable!

RicketyCat:Avoid using any other CPU intensive project as POEM use a lot of CPU too.

@Dirk Broer Bah, if the silicon isn't nearing combustion, you're not utilizing it's potential.

@JCMarsh [U.S. Army]: My X6 Phenoms (non- black edition) are pushed to 300 MHz FSB, or 4.050 GHz. One at 1.35V, one at 1.40V.

@7.62* I ran them at 4.2 but it was crash-prone. I'd like to run it faster if I can. Can u read CPU-Z output?

You are still low on volts. For new FX procs, jump to 1.4V, get your desired OC, then downvolt to instability.

Then bump up slightly for stability. 4.2 GHz 24/7 sounds good enough for air cooling.

A good mobo should perform this "reverse" overclocking with no hitch.

CPU-Z Reports? A lot of system info, but not much pointing to overclock "quality" per se. Use P95 small FFT to test cores.
