Will, since the projects are allowed to shut down for matainance I think you are allowed too ! Could you do a few partial defrags on different days to minimise downtime?

@All: downtime is fine (have no problem with that), but remember that the datacenter is 75km from my home. Anyway, I don't think defragmenting the HD would help much, as the complete tables are overwritten a few times every day.

Wally . . . this may sounds crazy but why not create a BOINC project where partisipants calculate the BOINCstat for you?

@O%O i don't think it would be possible practicaly, because you've got to analyze results, also, to have the stats on time, the deadline should be very short(about an hour). .

@O&O: I considered that, but it's indeed not practical. It would require HUGE ammounts of data to be transfered to a participant. You cannot just send a part of the data and join it later.

The old SETIathome page contained a feature which reported one's %ile in the Stats. BOINC does not. It should be reinstated.
