When I'm running The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 6.40, the percent done and CPU time go back to about 68% and 9 hours every time it gets suspended and resumed. Is this a bug, or do I just have to make sure nothing interferes with it until I'm done?

Thanks!

do you have leave app in memory while suspended checked?
if not it will drop back to the last checkpoint.

Yes, I did. However, I think I purged my inactive RAM while it was suspended. Would that have done it?

On a side note, on all of the WCG projects I've completed, I turn them in, but I don't get any credits.

yes, anytime the workunit/app is kicked out of memory it has to start back at the last checkpoint.

credits as in stats sites or credits as in on WCG web site, one of the WCG subprojects has a 15 wingman/wingwoman min. valid return,so 15 of the 19 tasks sent out have to get returned and validated before points are given.. you have to wait for the wingmen/wingwomen to return their workunits and the server validate them. and then credits are given on WCG, WCG only updates the files 2 times a day, at which point the stat sites pick them up. and it may take a day or 3 for them to show up on the stat sites. also WCG is a 7 to 1 credit system. for every 7 credits listed on WCG site you will only see 1 credit on the boinc stat sites. i.e. 7000 WCG web site credits will only get you 1000 boinc credits. oh by the way, WCG will call them points and not credits.

I just suspend that project, and then resumed it (without purging my memory), and it still went back to the old checkpoint.

Is the solution to just let it run continuously until it finishes?

are you using OSX? I looked at your userid and it shows only one host and the os is osx.
over on the boinc web site there a lot of posts about problems with boinc and osx.
I don't use osx. windows and linux (sometimes).
what you could do is go over to the BOINC.com web site and post in the message board this problem.
just be sure if you do post to stop boinc and restart and copy the event log to your post. AGELESS gets a little upset if you don't..
it might be something the programmers need to check into. also before you post read as much as you can on the message board you might find something there. sorry I could not be of any help.

Yes, I'm using 10.7.3.

Okay, I'll go over to the BOINC forums. Thanks so much for the help!

It sounds like you solved your own problem; if the application is removed from memory due to computing preferences or user inervention, then computation will only resume from the last checkpoint written to disk. For some projects, this is less often than others and you loose more progress on these events, as well as restarts. I've not really had many issues with WCG on OS X, though I'm only running computers with 10.4.11, 10.5.8 and 10.6.8.
