Just wanted to let anyone know who is interested:

Got word the latest downtime is not the long awaited refurbish of the project.....it is due to a hard drive failure which might be somewhat severe...the raid array was being rebuilt. Further information as it becomes available.

The RAID array has been rebuilt sucessfully and should be back online soon. The announced coming fixes have not yet been implemented.

Thanks for the update. Do you know if that means they'll be back on-line for a time before the overhaul is implemented?

I am going to add a little teaser in here.

The upcoming credit change will be an increase and is driven by some studies I did comparing Cosmo to Einstein trying to match the Big Brother project. If anyone has complaints after implementation you can probably blame it on me.It was done to put this issue to rest for the current average time of tasks.

That's good news all around... I've always been a fan of this project and have been lamenting it's troubles. Hopefully it will bounce back with few problems and most of its crunchers reasonably happy.

Thanks, again,

is anyone running the current test wu's? are they reasonably trouble free? and can they advise whether it's worth bothering...

I think all the test-wus are already crunched or sent-out, so you won't have luck for them until new one's are sent out.
I got several of them around the last weekend, but in the last days nothing more.
All of them finished without problems and all got their credits.

thanks@DN: I'm just off for a couple of days and also trying to clear a million turn LHC wu I got just after I posted the question. I was only running Cosmo on my ancient 'boat anchor' machine so it doesn't matter too much. LHC does the trick for me for physics/comsology projects.

Seems they released a new batch of test-wus, I just stand up and found out that my X2 has got some new ones over an hour ago.
Better hurry, you could have luck and grab yourself some, glaesum.
